Ground-breaking UTS Tour set to make Asia debut in Hong Kong

The global UTS Tour tennis league, bringing together unique fast-paced tennis and crowd-inspired entertainment, will make its debut in Asia this October with a new UTS Hong Kong event at the new and world-class venue, the Kai Tak Arena.

UTS, created by tennis supercoach and entrepreneur Patrick Mouratoglou, is partnering with the Hong Kong, China Tennis Association (HKCTA) to bring some of the world’s top male players to compete in UTS Hong Kong on 14 and 15 October for a prize money pot of US$1.1 million, with the winner taking home at least US$306,000.  Previous winners on the UTS Tour include top 10 talents Andrey Rublev, Casper Ruud, Jack Draper, Gael Monfils, and Ben Shelton, among others.

It will follow in the footsteps of iconic cities and stadiums like Forest Hills in New York City, London, Los Angeles, Oslo and Frankfurt, which have played host to ground-breaking, sold-out UTS Tour events.

UTS promises tennis like never before with fast and furious rules and a family-friendly format designed to entertain, engage and encourage eye-catching tennis. Players compete in eight-minute quarters which can end in thrilling sudden death points. They are only allowed one serve and can also play UTS bonus cards at pivotal moments during the match. Crowds can move around the arena throughout and are entertained with a DJ and can hear from the players thanks to interviews between the quarters.

Australia’s No.1 and 2024 UTS Grand Final London champion Alex de Minaur is among the players already confirmed in the eight-man field in Hong Kong, alongwith the Top 10 player and 2024 UTS Oslo champion Andrey Rublev, and China’s No.1 tennis star Zhang Zhizhen. The five remaining players will be revealed in the coming weeks.

As well as two days of UTS matches, the players will also take part in the UTS Hong Kong Tennis Clinics on Monday 13 October, where children of all ages will have the chance to get on court and give tennis a try before watching players showcase their incredible skills with intensive competitive drills in the unique UTS All Star Game.

Michael Cheng, President of the HKCTA said:

“Hosting UTS Hong Kong marks a significant milestone for tennis in Hong Kong and the surrounding region.  As part of the Hong Kong Tennis Season and an event sanctioned by the Asian Tennis Federation, UTS Hong Kong adds a dynamic and engaging dimension to our existing line-up of ATP, WTA, and ITF Tour events. The unique, fan-centric format of UTS creates an electrifying atmosphere that brings tennis to life. As the first-ever Asian stop for UTS, Hong Kong has the opportunity to inspire a new generation of players and tennis enthusiasts, contributing to the growth of the sport and the mega-event economy of our city.”

Patrick Mouratoglou, UTS Tour founder said:

“Hong Kong is such an exciting, vivacious and fast-paced place so it’s the perfect location for UTS to make its debut in Asia. The HKCTA, our co-organizer, has done a fantastic job in growing tennis in Hong Kong and we share their passion for bringing more and more new people into the sport, especially kids and young people.”
